If you tried to go grocery shopping our out to dinner last Monday afternoon, you may have noticed your favorite Publix and Jim ‘N Nick’s employees were nowhere to be found! That’s because they were bowling for Junior Achievement! Forty-five teams from these well-loved community establishments joined JA to help support the 32,000+ students who will receive JA program during the 10-11 school year.

A special thanks to all those who participated in this year’s Junior Achievement Bowling Classic! Everyone did a great job motivating their teams and striving to meet their fundraising goals. We even had a few teams meet their Company Challenge Goal – that means they raised $1000 above last year’s total BEFORE they bowled! Congrats to teams from Maynard, Cooper & Gale and First Commercial Bank – we hope you enjoyed your free pizzas as a token of our appreciation!

2010 Summer Bowling is off to a great start! More than 250 lanes have been reserved and the first Team Captain Luncheon today at Jim N Nick’s Greystone was PACKED! Many thanks to speakers, Dr. Johnnie Griffin JA Company Program volunteer from TALA Professional Services, teacher Beverly Brown and students from Jackson-Olin High School. The students are headed to the JA North American Company of the Year Competition with their JA Company, the Kids XO Computer Repair Center.
There is one more opportunity to hear from these kids and to get educated about the Bowling Classic at the Homewood Jim N Nick’s next Wednesday, July 14th at noon. If you are a team captain and have not RSVP’d, let your coordinator know that you would like to attend this Luncheon.

Don’t forget, Captains, you only have a few more weeks to get your teams together! Registrations are due July 16th, and you can fax the hard copy forms in or just register online on this site.

2010 Summer Bowling Classic Kick Off

Our 2010 Summer Bowling Classic kicks off today at 11:30am at Energen Corporate Plaza. Kick off will feature student speakers, great food from Jim ‘N Nick’s and a few new surprises. Coordinators, you are in for a real treat! We look forward to seeing everyone at kick off and beginning a successful Bowling Classic fundraising campaign.

Our Grand Prize Winner- the one who gets to take home that beautiful 32 inch flat screen TV and blu-ray player- will be announced at the Recognition Luncheon on April 1st at the Regions Financial Center. Who will the winner be? With many bowlers raising well over the $250 required to enter the drawing, I’d say it’s going to be a close race!

We will also honor our Top Fundraisers, draw for tantalizing incentive prizes and distribute well-deserved coordinator, team captain, and bowler prizes.

Directions to the luncheon will be sent to all Coordinators in the coming days.

We are very excited to kickoff our first weekend of the Junior Achievement Bowling Classic. BB&T will join us tonight at Riverview Lanes…and tomorrow we will have over 30 teams participating at Vestavia Bowl and Riverview. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
